The Longest Night Redux

Alana's father died today. Five months after burying their mother, the Andrews kids have lost their father. I'm at a loss...for words, actions, and thought.

The Andrews house was eerily silent tonight. There were many of us there, attempting to comfort and console. There were words and tears and laughter and stories, but still an oppressive silence hung over us as we remembered their lives and recalled our past. We revisited our childhoods once again, too soon to be doing that again... Nothing will ever be the same.

My heart breaks for Alana, Chad, Keri, and Jen. Alana and Chad were there with John. He was fine in the morning. By early afternoon he'd lost the ability to sit upright and swallow. He was gone several hours later. Expected, but not so soon. They fought hard to keep him alive after Mrs. A. died. He fought hard as well. I can't believe this is where we are again.
