So There I Was...

Someone sent me these questions as part of one of those really annoying email chain letter things that insist you'll lose all your money, your cat will be struck by lightening, and your spouse will turn into a toad if you don't forward it on to a gazillion people. I hate those things. But this was kind of an interesting exercise in recall, so I'm posting it here:

1. Where were you when you heard that Ronald Reagan died?

Working on a story about the numerous injustices of the Bush Administration war in Iraq.

2. Where were you on September 11, 2001?

On my cell phone trying to line up an interview. The car radio was on and when I heard about the plane hitting the WTC, I hung up and tried, in vain, to contact my editor in New York. I remember every horrifying detail about those moments.

3. Where were you when you heard Princess Diana died?

Preparing myself for the upcoming 32-hour Labor Day Telethon.

4. Do you remember where you were when you heard Kurt Cobain had died?

Ironically, I was sitting at my desk writing some dialogue, rocking out to a Nirvana CD.

5. Take one for the Gipper: What's your favorite flavor of jelly bean?

My favorite flavor of almost anything that comes in flavors is red.

6. Where were you when you heard Pedro Zamora had died of AIDS?

More irony here: Pedro died like hours after the final episode of the Real World aired. I think I had just watched the episode, and still had it tuned to MTV when it was announced.

7. Where were you when Reagan was shot?

I was 9, so I don't really remember this. I assume I was in school.

8. Where were you when the Challneger exploded?

This one I remember clearly. I was in class at East Junior High. We were watching it on television, preparing to cheer for the first teacher in space. We were dismissed soon after it happened.

9. Where were you during the famous O.J. chase in LA?

I was on my way to a nice buzz, sitting at the bar in Kam's Restaurant with about 15 of my friends. It came on the monitor, the music stopped, and everyone there just sat mesmerized.

So, that's my fun post for the day. I'm just too tired to write about anything of substance...
